Valentine's Day is essentially a massive commercialisation to make couples spend more money, and singles feel more lonely. On the flip-side, if you're part of a couple, it's another chance to receive awesome gifts, and if you're single, you get to save money. Before I continue, this post has a Part I from back in early December that never got posted (I don't think I even started...but the idea was there...). So how do you tell if you've got the best girlfriend ever? She gives you Lego for your anniversary. Oh, and it's Star Wars Lego.

The ship is a decent size, with two characters able to be sat in the cockpit (I guess the other two sit on the wings or something...). One of the coolest things about it is the wings can rotate around the cockpit, and when in the vertical position (wings above/below the cockpit), the two missiles are reveal. You can shoot them by pressing the outermost thrusters on either side, though the distance they go depends on how hard you press them, and how far they feel like flying at the time. It's a lot of fun to build, with nearly 400 pieces, so it takes a little while as well. You also get a nice collection of minifigs. One thing that is a little rare these days in Lego sets, is stickers. Many pieces now come with markings just printed on. This set however, has 5 stickers to put on yourself, (only two pieces are printed), which makes it even more awesome. I would definitely recommend this set.
Part II
And back to now, how do tell if you've still got the best girlfriend? She gives you more Lego for Valentine's Day (not to say that other presents don't make her the best - think Star Wars, awesome t-shirts, console games, anything geeky...you get the picture). Recently Lego have started producing board games. Some seem a little simple, or perhaps for younger kids, but others can be enjoyed like any family game (before the arguing starts about whether you should let your little brother win or not...doesn't that defeat the purpose?). One of the bigger games by Lego is Creationary (why does spell-check want me to correct that to 'Creationism'?). The idea behind it is similar to Pictionary, however instead of drawing a picture, you have to build a model.

There are four building categories, and three levels of difficulty. After rolling the die, you choose a card and build the object that from the category that corresponds with that shown on the die. the game is for 3-8 players, and for ages 7+. That doesn't mean it's a game for kids, it simply means I'm three times more qualified to play than a 7 year old. Add to that my engineering knowledge, some might say I'm overqualified - that just means I should always win. One great thing with Lego games, is the rules are adaptable to make it easier, quicker, funner, familyer, dangerouser and sexier. I'm pretty sure there's nothing from Lego that I wouldn't recommend...get this game.
