You could be forgiven for thinking the topic of this post is apocalyptic or even suicidal, but you'd be wrong either way. Rather, it's celebrating all the unsung heroes of the world, the silent achievers, the backbone of society. August 13 is a very special day; it's International Left Handers' Day - a day celebrated world over by the people are too awesome to be right.
How is that not better than the Right-Hand Rule?

Glad you asked. While many consider us to be the scum of the Earth, in reality we'd all be dead if not for left handed people.
"That doesn't answer my question, left handed people are the unwanted X-Men, a minority group of mutants that nobody wants."
First of all, now you're confusing us (oh yeah...I'm left handed) with Rangas, please don't do that. Secondly, whilst I can't tell if any of the X-Men are in fact left handed, there's plenty of real life people who are. Let's see if you've heard of them:
- Leonardo Da Vinci
- Julius Caesar
- Napoleon Bonaparte
- Queen Victoria
- Albert Einstein
- Neil Armstrong
- Jack the Ripper
- Marilyn Munroe
- Bill Gates
- Mark Twain
- Ludwig Van Beethoven
- M.C. Escher
- Kermit the Frog
- Joan of Arc
- Jimi Hendrix
- Mark Hamill
- Kurt Cobain
- Chris Gehrke
- Bart Simpson
- Link
And that's just off the top of my head. A Google search will give you many more. Remove any one of those people from history, and the world collapses. Take Einstein for example, we never would have had relativity, and things would be travelling at the speed of light everywhere, wreaking havoc. Something as simple as pitching a baseball would be devastating. What if Link didn't exist - who would save Zelda, who would be one of the better characters in Super Smash Brothers? Without Neil Armstrong, there would be no first man on the Moon, only a second man, however Buzz Aldrin was also left handed, so remove him, and there would be no Apollo 11, without which there wouldn't have been the follow ups Apollo 12 through 17. I.e we never would have had a man on the moon. I can do this all day, give me the name any left handed person, and I'll detail how screwed we'd be without them.
No more mind-fucks.

In general, while right handed people are better at things like maths, logic and language (things that involve linear thinking), left handed people are better at spatial awareness, creativity and expressing emotions (things that involve holistic thinking). Of course, not everything about being left handed is awesome, there's always something bad to pull down the good.
In the same fashion that men should open doors for women, offer them seats, deny the fatness of their ass in that dress; there's a common courtesy that should be applied when meeting a left handed person. So next time you do, why not shake with your left hand, give them a left-5, and offer to pay the bill. For any left handed people out there, if a right handed person starts acting like a jerk towards you, sit next to them during an exam...really close, bump elbows a little. Or, give them a really tight hug, this will make them feel uncomfortable.
